CLINICS

Antenatal Clinic

Wednesday 9.30am - 12 noon and 1.30 - 5.00pm

Please make an appointment. Our community midwife, Janet Taylor RM, RN, BSc, Dip HE, is in attendance for antenatal clinics.

For confirmation of pregnancy, please make an initial appointment with your doctor in surgery time.

We engage in a community-based approach to antenatal care and the midwife will advise on choices for childbirth and parentcraft classes for prospective parents.

Postnatal examinations are usually carried out on Mondays when babies attend for six week checks (see Well Baby Clinic below).

Cervical Smears

You will receive an appointment for a cervical smear when you are due in accordance with the Leeds recall system.

Well Baby Clinic

Monday 1.30 - 3.00pm (Including childhood immunisations)
Immunisations on Tuesday with the practice nurse by appointment.

The health visitor welcomes mothers and babies for weighing and advice without appointment.

Immunisations are given by the practice nurse and appointments will be sent for this. From time to time during the first three years, you will receive an appointment for your child to be examined and his/her development checked by the doctor or health visitor.

Please note, the well baby clinic is not for babies that are ill; seek advice or make an appointment if this is the case.

Diabetic Clinic

This clinic is held regularly. Patients with diabetes are normally invited to be seen twice yearly for a full check on their health and treatment.

Minor Surgery

Minor surgical procedures, including cryotherapy, can be carried out under local anaesthetic in the surgery.

Family Planning

A full range of contraceptive services and advice are available, including fitting of IUDs (coils) and diaphragms (caps). Please make a routine appointment with any of the doctors to discuss options. A fitting will require a specific appointment. We also provide a free condom service.

Counselling

A counselling service is available at the practice. Patients need to consult any member of the health care team for a referral.

NHS Direct

General advice on health issues can be obtained by calling NHS Direct on 0845 4647 or visiting their website at www.nhsdirect.nhs.uk
